CAREERS · REMOTE-FIRST
Work on the software 1,000+ shopkeepers use every day.
We are a small team. We ship every week. We care about the people behind the till more than we care about any framework.
The work, before the job description.
We do small, useful things.
Small wins compound. We ship a fix that saves a cashier three seconds per sale and we call that a good week. We do not ship features for blog posts. The metric is whether a shopkeeper's day got easier.
Software is a service business.
A shopkeeper having a bad day is our problem. We answer the phone. We drive to the shop if we have to. The software is only as good as the support that comes with it, and we treat them as the same product.
We write things down.
Meetings are documents. Decisions are documents. The code is documentation only when it has to be. A new team member should be able to understand any decision we made six months ago by reading what we wrote at the time.
Pay is honest.
Bands posted, no haggling. Equity for everyone, real numbers. We think the practice of hiding salaries wastes everyone's time and keeps the people who most need information from getting it.
A day in the shop.
We spend time behind the till. Here is one Wednesday.
- 06:00
Loaded boxes of stock at a wholesaler. The shopkeeper showed us his invoice book. Three columns, ten years of trading.
- 09:15
Watched the morning rush at a corner shop. The card terminal went down for four minutes. The cashier kept selling on paper.
- 11:45
Sat with the till operator while she rang up 23 sales. Noticed she taps the bundle button three times in a row. Logged a fix.
- 14:00
Coffee with two shop owners who run businesses across three counties. They want one dashboard. We can build that.
- 16:30
Back at the office. Rolled the bundle fix to production. Slack from the cashier: "much better".
- 19:10
Wrote it up. Closed the laptop.
