Cookie Policy
Effective Date: April 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Kappanetics Limited (“SumsPOS,” “we,” “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website (sumspos.com) and use the SumsPOS platform.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and improve your experience. Cookies may be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them).
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled.
- auth_token: Stores your authentication session token. Expires when session ends (8 hours) or on logout. Required for platform access.
- tenant_slug: Identifies your business tenant during development and direct-access scenarios. Session cookie.
- device_id: Identifies your device for multi-device session management and offline sync. Persistent, 1 year.
2.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences and improve your experience.
- theme: Stores your preferred theme (light/dark mode). Persistent, 1 year.
- store_id: Remembers your last selected store in a multi-store setup. Session cookie.
- sidebar_state: Remembers whether the navigation sidebar is collapsed or expanded. Persistent, 30 days.
2.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.
- _ga, _gid: Google Analytics cookies that track page views, session duration, and traffic sources. Persistent, up to 2 years. Used on the marketing website (sumspos.com) only, not within the POS application.
2.4 Marketing Cookies
We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent.
3. Similar Technologies
3.1 Local Storage
We use browser localStorage to store:
- Authentication tokens (as a fallback when cookies are unavailable)
- Onboarding completion status
- UI preferences
3.2 IndexedDB
For offline functionality, we use IndexedDB to store product catalog data, pending sales transactions, and sync queue entries on your device. This data is encrypted and scoped to your authenticated session. It is cleared on logout.
4. Your Cookie Choices
You can manage cookies in the following ways:
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies via settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent SumsPOS from functioning.
- Analytics opt-out: You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Do Not Track: We respect browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals. When DNT is enabled, we disable analytics cookies.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Card-payment providers may set their own cookies when you are redirected to their payment pages. These cookies are governed by the respective provider's cookie policies. We do not control these cookies.
6. Cookie Duration Summary
| Cookie | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|
